Finding the perfect blend of text and data 🌟 experiences from the Economics Observatory
The Economics Observatory is a science communication outfit set up for distilling complex concepts for governance, academica and the public. We advise governments, publish articles on an expert portal daily, we have a printed magazine, a data API and we are hold courses about writing and visualization for communicating economics. This talk will walk you through the lessons we have learnt over the past 3 years. We find that a blend of text and data works best.

Dénes is a researcher and thinker interested in exploring the language of data: visualization 🌟
He holds an Assistant Professorship at Lancaster University in the UK and a Visiting Assistant Professorship at Babeș-Bolyai University in Romania, centered around data visualization and business intelligence. He is the data visualization lead for the Romanian Economic Impact Monitor in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and the Economics Observatory in Bristol, UK. His data analyses and visualizations balance on the fine line between work and hobby and he has led educational workshops on visualization, sustainability and renewable energy across developing regions in Asia and Africa. He is actively involved in mentoring youth, both in Hungary and Romania, exploring complex topics through data analysis and visualization, while trying to inspire the next generation of systems thinkers.
