DataOps
Best Practices
Keeping your Microsoft Fabric environment healthy requires visibility across dataflows, pipelines, real‑time ingestion, semantic models, and user activity.
In this session, we take an end‑to‑end tour of the monitoring capabilities available in Fabric today. We’ll explore how the Real‑Time Hub helps you track event streams and data activations as they happen, how Workspace Monitoring exposes detailed workload‑level insights, and how the Monitoring Hub centralizes operational signals across capacities, items, and execution history.
We’ll also look at open‑source community accelerators that extend Fabric’s monitoring story with advanced dashboards, log enrichment, and deeper operational observability.
By the end, you’ll know how to combine these tools into a unified monitoring strategy that supports proactive troubleshooting, capacity planning, and reliable enterprise‑scale Fabric operations.
Power BI
Finance
Standard financial reports in Power BI often lack flexibility in formatting and visual clarity. Complex requirements such as parent-child hierarchies, mixed values, or dynamic layouts can be difficult to implement. This session introduces practical techniques using Power Query and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). You will learn how to apply italic, bold, and underlined styles, include the month name in the headers, or create microcharts for clearer, more professional reports.
Agentic BI
AI
From the moment you opened VS Code, Claude Code, or a similar tool, and perhaps connected to a Power BI MCP, you had already leaped miles ahead of the curve. If you also expanded the capabilities of those agents with Agent Skills, I'm sure you haven't looked back since.
Agent Skills, at the surface, are extremely impactful but also very simple technically, being mostly just text files and folders. But did you ever get a chance to look beneath that surface?
In this session, we'll cover the hidden depths of what you can achieve with Agent Skills, the open standard for extending agent capabilities. First, we look at how skills are discovered, loaded, and interpreted by agents. Second, we explore how skills can be much more than just instructions with scripts, hooks, and more. Third, how skills can be bundled with sub-agents to run everything more parallelized, or how to make the skill itself run as a sub-agent. Finally, we discuss how to add self-learning loops into skills so that they evolve with your project and document your work as you go.
Topics:
– Power BI modeling with AI and MCPs
– Agent Skills, hooks, and scripts
– Sub-agents and self-learning agents
After attending this session, you will know everything there is to know about Agent Skills for Power BI, and leave with a refined AI toolbox, able to build even more ambitious agentic workflows for Power BI.
Analytics engineering
Workshop
The lines between data engineer, AI engineer, and software engineer are blurring. Agentic coding tools are reshaping who builds the data platform — and a new data builder role is emerging at every team size, from Microsoft engineering to small client teams in the field.
This full-day workshop pairs two perspectives: how a Microsoft data engineering team is adopting GitHub Copilot and agentic workflows for Fabric, and field-tested adaptations from solution architecture work with client teams who lack Microsoft's scale.
What you'll master:
– Apply agentic coding patterns to Fabric notebooks, Spark, and Lakehouse pipelines in production
– Configure GitHub Copilot, MCP servers, and reusable skills for Fabric data engineering
– Architect end-to-end agentic pipelines spanning ingestion, transformation, testing, and observability
– Adopt patterns a Microsoft team uses at scale — and adaptations proven with smaller client teams in the field
– Position your career for the unified data builder role replacing siloed engineer titles
Walk away with a working agentic toolkit, production and field case studies, and a clear view of where engineering roles are heading.
Embedded BI
Power BI Embedded can feel overwhelming at first — especially when you move beyond simple iframe embedding and start working with authentication, service principals, and the REST API. This technical session is designed to give developers a clear and practical starting point.
We’ll walk through the key concepts behind app-owns-data embedding, how the authentication flow works, and how to set up a service principal correctly. You’ll learn how to generate access and embed tokens, how the REST API fits into the overall embedding process, and which endpoints are important when you want to automate workspaces, reports, or user access.
The goal of this session is not to cover every advanced scenario, but to give you a solid foundation you can build on. By the end, you’ll understand how the pieces fit together and have a clear path for integrating Power BI Embedded into your own applications.
Tableau
Are you an experienced Tableau user at work? You're familiar with the process of creating dashboards but you are falling behind with the technology. When did you last get a proper afternoon to figure out what AI is actually doing to your job?
When did you last sit down and properly work out how the AI features in Tableau, or the AI tools your stakeholders are starting to use, are going to change what you build and how you deliver it?
The way stakeholders want to consume data is shifting. And the gap between "I understand this" and "I'm just hoping it doesn't affect me" is getting wider every month. We're doing the learning on your behalf and this talk will take you several starting steps into this journey. We'll also share with you how you can continue on this journey with us in the future.
